Heylen Warehouses proudly announces that starting July 1, John Derweduwe is the new ‘Managing Partner for Spain and Portugal’, responsible for developing the logistics real estate portfolio on the Iberian Peninsula. Heylen Warehouses and John will be combining their experience and expertise to offer seamless logistics and semi-industrial real estate solutions.
After its initial establishment in Belgium in 2002, followed by an expansion of activities to the Netherlands ten years later, Heylen Warehouses is now further exporting its success formula as a developing investor to Spain and Portugal. Since the start, more than 1.8 million m² of logistics real estate have been developed in Belgium and the Netherlands.
“The Spanish-Portuguese market offers ample opportunities to further develop our portfolio of both logistics campuses and industrial real estate. Not surprisingly, we are looking forward to working with John and are fully confident that his extensive knowledge and experience will be of tremendous added value for the entire Heylen Warehouses team,” says Ralph Caspanni, CEO of Heylen Warehouses.
Heylen plans to invest in green and brownfield locations in order to subsequently develop them into state-of-the-art new development projects. In doing so, Heylen will be introducing its architecturally distinctive and sustainable campus concept to the Spanish and Portuguese markets.
John boasts more than 29 years of experience in the Spanish industrial real estate sector.
In 1992, he launched the Spanish division of the British property consultancy King Sturge (currently JLL).
In 2001, he joined the American REIT Prologis as Vice President and Country Officer for Spain and Portugal and, among his numerous accomplishments, achieved the largest industrial lease deal ever (90,000 m²) in Spain.
Five years ago, he established Mountpark in Spain, laying the foundation for an important land bank and developing a 86,000 sq.m building at his own risk, which was leased immediately on completion. Under his direction, Mountpark developed into a major player in the logistics real estate sector in the Spanish market.
